Consultants        

      As the number of students going abroad is increasing, many firms have started offering services like academic counseling, guiding students with the application process, contacting universities, forex and travel arrangements etc. How ever, you have to be careful in picking a consultancy. There are a number of firms which are bad at their job.

Do I need a consultant?

     There is no straight forward answer to this question. Technically, you can go through the entire process yourself. How ever, consultant do help with wording your essays, recommendations, visa and financial documents and maybe even forex. So, approaching a consultant may not be a bad idea. But, you need to be cautious and remember that some do have affiliations with specific universities and their opinion in picking a university may not be entirely unbiased. 

How do I pick the right consultant?

• Unfortunately there are not many consultants offering services everywhere in India.
• So, you have to go with local knowledge.
• If some body you know has had a good experience with a consultant, then the firm is probably good.
• Well established firms with branches in many cities are a good bet.
• Do some research prior to meeting a consultant and see if what they say matches your research. This means you have do some research yourself.
